He was a longtime member of Woodfield Park Baptist Church and a member of Dentsville Masonic Lodge 398. Army. After serving in World War II and the Korean War, he returned to Florence, where he worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance for 40 years until he retired as a consultant in 1980. He was a member of the Beth Israel Congregation, where he served as president from 1968 to 1970, and managed the Jewish Cemetery for 36 years. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Golden Kiwanis Club. Surviving are his wife, Jewell Odom Whittington Insel of the home; son, Curtis C.
