Nebraska FFA Concludes 96th FFA Convention (2024)

Lincoln, Neb. –Over 7,000 FFA members, advisors, and guests attended and participated in the 96th Nebraska FFA Convention, held April 3-5 in Lincoln. Students competed in various contests all school year to qualify for the state convention.

Those winning their Leadership Development Events, Career Development Events, and Agriscience Fair projects will go onto compete at the National FFA Convention against other states in their respective areas. Proficiency Area winners will also be judged at the national level and will know in August if they have advanced to the final round to be announced at the convention. The National FFA Convention will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 23-26.

State Star in Agribusiness

Carson Mau, Sutton FFA Chapter

Carson Mau is the son of Brent and Gwenda Mau. His FFA Advisor is Gwenda Mau. Carson provides lawn care services for 56 residential and commercial properties. He developed skills in marketing and building a brand identity for his business. He plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and major in Agriculture Education.

Cole Ransen, Norfolk FFA Chapter

Cole Ransen is the son of Lori Ransen. His FFA Advisor is Jonathan Anderson. Cole’s SAE included conducting experiments and researching variables in radish, pepper, and concrete production. Cole plans to attend the Northeast Community College and major in Electrical Mechanical Technology.

Makayla Johnson is the daughter of Jeremiah and Heather Johnson. Her FFA Advisor is Kassie Faimon. Makayla works for Central Valley Irrigation where she sorts and loads corner machines, loads underground pipe, and renozzles pivots. Makayla plans to major in Business Administration at Central Community College.

Adam Knapp: Ord FFA Chapter

Adam Knapp is the son of Jay and Kay Knapp. His FFA Advisors are Dave Ference, Johnny Ference and Chrisinda Ritz. Adam rents 208 acres of mostly irrigated farm ground. He also raises and markets cattle. Adam developed skills in farm management, agronomy, and business. Adam plans to attend UNL and major in Agribusiness.

Maddie Chrisman is the daughter of Amy Chaney. 1st place: Tate Pruess, Tekamah-Herman

Tate Pruess is the son of Doug and Karin Pruess. Tate’s research was based on a corn test plot that consisted of fourteen varieties, and analyzed different factors into what made each one prosper in silty clay loam soil. Tate’s FFA Advisor is Haley Ransiear.

Bobbi Guggenmos is the daughter of Tony and Kelly Guggenmos. Bobbi’s skills include raising Holstein nurse cows and improving genetics through Artificial Insemination. Bobbi enjoys showing the cows and learning new methods to improve her operation. Bobbi’s FFA Advisor is Kelly Guggenmos.
